Described by the more tactful of my two sisters as 'maverick', I am a mixed bag, with a propensity to talk rather a lot, sometimes in an almost manic style. But I mostly mean well, and many fail to see underneath the narrative that I am sensitive and empathic. Tuning into others without spending much time listening to them is not always a mutually incompatible thing.

I have been torn between the technical side of life, with programming central to that, and the expressive side, with an inherited ability to make things. It is worth pointing out that this is no false modesty - I lack the confidence in my abilities, and put that down to a lack of control over them. I can equally be found observing myself performing ineptly and effectively with pencil or camera or whatever. The point is, I am often as much an observer of my creativity as an outsider would be.
